Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the entry and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to answer it and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may automatically receive routine technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is available
- Browser name and version
- Visited pages and time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a visitor's device. They help show, in aggregate, which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers assist with that measurement. A browser can be set to reject cookies, though disabling them may cause some website functions to behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a submitted search to the selected outside provider
- Maintain reliable and efficient page delivery
- Diagnose and repair technical faults
- Measure which content visitors use most
- Display advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Seward County Criminal History does not create, keep, sell, or compile a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to official sources such as Seward County court clerks, the sheriff, the Nebraska State Patrol, and the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. Nebraska's criminal-history dissemination statute controls specified public repository information at the official source. This private site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is subject to that provider's privacy policy. Each provider determines its own retention and sharing practices, which are beyond our control. Review those terms before entering a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, Nebraska court and agency systems, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy governs. Review it before providing personal details.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads. Their tracking practices do not operate under this policy.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Search providers processing a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect information under our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If a minor's information is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
Privacy and consumer-protection laws may grant additional rights based on a visitor's location. Nebraska's Public Records Act applies to public records held by government custodians, not data held by this private website. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Object to certain forms of data processing
- Request deletion of personal information
- Ask for correction of inaccurate information
- Request a copy of personal data held about the visitor
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A replacement version will be posted here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review the page from time to time.
